There is nothing wrong with Mark TEIXEIRA. He isnt a great hitter OPS-wise, but he has decent strike zone judgement and hits for power. Until he can muster OPS north of 1.00 he isnt really considered a great hitter in modern era, but with park factor in mind he should turn it around.

Can't seem to get it going? You must have given up and completely stopped watching him. Teixeira is a notoriously slow starter who warms with the weather. His career OPS by month is as follows: .784, .869, .873, .906, .928, .962.

Teixeira posted 4 doubles, two home runs, and six RBI's along with a .686 OPS in April, and has already matched that output in 22 at-bats in May, for a 1.322 OPS. I'd say that looks a lot like Mark starting to warm up, just like he always does.

He started the same as this last year and blew up in the second half of the season. He's the guy where you wait for about a month and then find an owner who panics and trade a guy like Nick Swisher for him. Then you get a great second half without the crappy first half dragging down your average...
To answer your question though, there is nothing wrong and he will post his same stellar numbers when all is said and done this year.

Mark is usually slow starting off the season. In 2006 he had 33 HRs, 24 were after the All Star Break. Be patient, he'll come around.

He's just kicking in. He'll be back like last year by the end of the month.
