If you are unhappy with being a receptionist then I wonder who were you to be one? Were you being one because that is what you wanted? Or were you being one because that is what is expected out of you? If being a receptionist makes you unhappy then are you being one to make someone else happy? Only you know what makes you happy, that is how I would help you, it is up to you to make it happen. It is your choice of how you want to live your life.

This is an unusual question. Only you know why you do what you do. I'm sure me or no one else knows you well enough to know why you make the decisions to be a receptionist. I don't know how much support you get, but maybe your unhappy because you REALLY don't want to be a receiptionist. There are pleny of other jobs that you could apply for that requires little experience. I found you can't look for others to support or agree with every decision you make concerning your life. You got to go out and make it happen for yourself. You already know why your unhappy and don't need us to tell you.

You do with your life what you choose to.
I worked as a receptionist at a community college for two years after I graduated with a degree from university; was really the only job I could get - the economy was pretty bad at that time. I loved it, and was great at it, and everyone loved and appreciated me because I was always happy, welcoming to everyone, and worked really hard.
However, I wanted something "more" and went for it once I saved some money. Switched jobs and tried my hand at being a newspaper reporter/photographer. Liked the job, hated the hours and pay. Decided to go back to university again, and became a teacher. Ah, that was the right one! Got my second degree, began my career, found the right dude, got married and began a family.

Whether you are happy or not does not depend on others..
Happiness is within your control... you can choose to be happy or sad..
This is a mind set kind of things.... you need to be positive and think positive and stop blaming the world..
You should be embracing the world...good or bad... and be happy about it...and stop asking WHY>.......
take care..

You are the only one who controls what you do in your life. You can be what you like if you are prepared to work towards it & make all the necessary sacrifices. Stop looking for others to be responsible for your life outcomes.m

I think you should stop feeling sorry for yourself and stop expecting other people to make decisions for you. If you don't like your job, find another. If you have no other skills go back to school. Don't "settle".

If you don't like what you do, change it. Get some additional training. Take on extra duties.
it's all up to you.
