I think it is not bad to use corporal punishment , not only in child rearing where some children really need it from youth to teens, but in the military and in the jail and prison system.
It is not bound in just a strap or paddle or whip but takes on form in boxing, pugil and martial arts as well, it can even take hold in the rigor of men and women and it is a good and honorable means of dispute resolutions.
I tell you, I would rather see convicts boxing, kicking ***, beating asses, and setting respect and honor with themselves, their brothers the guards and society as a whole through a system of allowance, challenge, and hey, clean cut honest manhoodship over the stabbing and degenerate sickness our current systems deploy.
I favor a network of man, a help to all man network that protects and disciplines all and casts none aside.

To smack a child on the rump is fine. But if you think adults in the military and prison system should be beaten you are a sick, perverted individual. Surely you know many guards in the prison system only want their jobs because they get off on being in power and hurting victims who are unable to defend themselves. I can't even address your assertions that it should be allowed in the military. You obviously were an abuse victim and need some serious psychiatric help. Pain infliction doesn't solve problems, it causes and perpetuates them.

While I believe that discipline in child rearing has its place, I think that most people who advocate its use do so with too much passion. Corporal punishment is a tool of discipline and it should not actually be used in place of discipline.
The answer lies in better child rearing. Teach your child how to respect others, teach them how to behave. Too often people don't do this, kids are left to their own devices and believe they can get away with it.
I honestly don't think we want a society where people are more violent. Manhood is not about beating someone up. |It's about taking responsibility as a man for what you and your family are doing and teaching your children with love, and if necessary, discipline.
Fathers must spend more quality time with their families and less time with their mates. Teach your children well, don't beat them into submission.
As for prisons etc well, I'm sure the prisons are full of lost people. But getting respect from being beaten us actually just breeds fear. Isn't it better to teach respect for people out of decency, law-abiding, etc. I don't condone the society today by any means, I am all for harsher punishment and rehabilitation which should go hand in hand. But I think you're very wrong.

corporal is practiced here in the Phils although there are some laws restricting it. I myself was undergone that when i was little. It was not as bad as it sounds though. Some children canot understand good reasoning for them to behave so a little pain has to be inflicted to remind them. But that does not mean im pro-corporal punishment or anything. My point is just to use it as a last resort for children and done very little. However there should be very strict rules as not to inflict it upon adults.

You make a very good point! When my father (way way back in the day) got into a dispute,or his family was insulted, he would ask the person to "meet him outside and handle this like men". I think people have become wimps-I think parents have become WAY too over protective and sheltering to their children-And if I EVER hear " time out" again &%&^%*&^%!!! I didnt hear time out-I heard "time to get a good *** kickin" if you dont stop what your doing(running around the store screaming and throwing things etc-) In turn what this does, unfortunately, is make society have less pride in themselves and lack integrity. In the day deals were closed with a handshake, not a notarized document-people actually believed in each other because they had enough pride in themselves and trusted their fellow man.Today people(sadly young people) think its "cool" to tote guns around and act tough-guess what a toddler can be tough if he waved a loaded gun too. I think it should be mandatory for every student to spend 3 weeks at boot camp before they can graduate!! Their wimpy parents have to go as well!!!!!!!Respect is earned not bought at the gun store-

Churchill said that the tradition of the Royal Navy is Rum, Buggary, and the Lash. It is said that there is only one of the 3 still alive.

Violence begets violence, you beat a child , the child learns to solve problems by violence. It is rediculous to think we can solve a problem by beating someone. That is why we are in an unjust war, we thought we could beat the people into our way of thinking, WRONG, they will be as they choose, our war will not change that.
