The fact that women often receive primary custody of their children means that some men are are unable to see their children as frequently as they would like, and this is particularly difficult if one ex-spouse or the other moves. Currently in the US, Federal Law makes non-payment of Child Support an automatic felony, whereas a mother's refusal to let the father see his children in accordance with court decisions is not an act criminalized by the federal government.

More and more these days the courts are awarding Joint Custody, if both parents are fit. I see it split 50/50 a lot more these days. Men are starting to step up to the bat. There are still a lot of myths about men caring for children to disprove out there. I do not see in most cases why they should not. If you look into it you will see that in most states, unless for some reason the father cannot care for the child, they are granting Joint Custody and doing a 50/50 split. I think that it is about time. Come on we all want to be equal right?

Aside from the fact that the children came out of their body, most women are the primary care takers of the children. There are exceptions but generally women get up in the night to feed and change the baby. They care for them most of the time. Diaper changing, getting them bathed, dressed, to school, fed, to the doctors etc. is usually left to the Mother. Once in a while the father does these things and should get custody. Prove your case. Are you the exception to the rule?

It's tough to break with tradition, but as time marches on, I believe there will be more equality in courts of law with the subject of custody.
It will take a long time, but women have changed so much.
For the time being, most men have a difficult time to get custody.
They need to prove that the mother is an addict or has a mental disorder.
That is why most of the men going through divorce decide to take off for parts unknown.

Most courts consider the mother preferable to a father to raise the kids.
In some cases, the father is granted custody because the mother is the one who is not capable.

be fair to the child offer the mother 50/50 custody. your husband has every right to parent the child as the mother dose. if she says no to 50/50, when he gets to court, tell them he offered her 50/50 and she said no, and that 50/50 is in the best interests of the child. you can try saying she is not involved in school and doctors, but i know someone where in their situation the kid's dad lied to court and said mom blocked him from being involved in those things (as opposed to him just being uninvolved), so that is very hard to prove and it's your word against hers basically. that's about it and you just hope you have a fair judge. it's a roll of the dice with those freaks based on their mood that day.

I would rather live with my abusive husband than risk losing my children. And most women feel the same.
Often the bond between mother and child is stronger than that between the father and the children. It is just the way it is.
