Think I might have a Hernia, and although it doesn't cause too much pain at the moment, how long do you think I can leave it?

I mean, can it repair itself... I really don't like bothering my Doctor as he is always very busy.

You should not leave it, go to the doctors and he will refer you to hospital for a repair operation. It is a simple procedure and is usually done as an out patient. You'll be home the same day. It will not heal and in fact will get worse, the problem is with a hernia it can strangulate which causes a blockage and can be fatal. Obviously you would know if that happened as the pain is quite intense. Also it does not happen often but you should get it sorted.

You shouldn't leave it. You will not be bothering your doctor. It could cause problems later on.

Husband had his repaired with keyhole surgery. He was in and out in the same day and after a couple of days rest, he was back to work. He has had no problem since.

Please go to your doctor. Don't leave it any longer than necessary.

It won't repair itself and go see your doctor now.Depending on what kind of hernia it is,it could be dangerous.Possibly life threatening.

Hernia should be first diagnosed.Inflammation can also can cause pain.Hernia is protruding one organ into another.Normally it is intestine.Any GP can diagnose it.It cannot repair itself. It may not be fatal. The sureway is surgical correction.Do it as early as possible. It is minor surgery.I had it a few years back.Do not be afraid.

You need to go to the see your doctor. You cant repair it yourself! Needs minor surgery - local anaesthetic - in hospital. You might have to wait quite a long time. I was diagnosed in Feb 2006 and still waiting for op to be done. NSS waiting lists and all that!

Me Father had one for over 30 years although that is not advisable he did acquire a truss to hold it in. If it strangulates your bowels then you will need immediate surgery.
