If you mean Pentium D dual core (using Pentium 4 CPUs), the Core 2 Duo is newer, more efficient, cooler and better. There is also Core Duo for laptops which uses two Pentium M CPUs. This is the forerunner of the C2D and a bit slower at a giver GHz.

They are pretty much the same thing Intel Core Duo has a larger L2 cache. The "Pentium Core Duo" is just a cheaper version. So get the "Intel Core Duo".
