In politics, the left-wing, the political left, and the left are terms used in the spectrum of Left-Right politics, defined as against the political right and associated, to varying degrees, with social (as opposed to classical) liberalism, progressivism, American liberalism, some forms of populism, social democracy, socialism, communism, syndicalism, anarchism, communalism, communitarianism, and green politics.
In politics, right-wing, the political right, and the right are terms used in the spectrum of Left-Right Politics, and much like the opposite appellation of Left-wing, it has a broad variety of definitions: the same name can, in politics, sometimes mean different things. However, it is generally used to refer to the segments of the political spectrum often associated with any of several strains of conservatism, monarchism, fascism[1], libertarianism, anarcho-capitalism, reactionism, some forms of populism, the religious right, nationalism, militarism, realism or simply the opposite of left-wing politics.

Hope you don't mind if I give you a short example maybe just to give you an idea. Anyways..
Leftists: Democrats
Rightists: Conservatives
ex.
During the Vietnam war, Cambodia had conflicts with its border with Vietnam in 1970's under the rule of Prince Sihanouk because Vietnam troops were crossing the border into the Cambodian lands to use as their bases. What made the problem worse was their illegal transportation of products, bombings, and other problems between Vietnam and USA that were affecting Cambodia. The situation was getting worse by the minute and was getting out of Prince Sihanouk's hands so now it became the people vs. the Prince. The leftists (liberals or democrats) wanted the Prince dethroned and wanted extreme actions to stop the war between Cambodia and Vietnam. The rightists (conservatives) on the other hand, didn't disagree of the leftist's violent acts. They encouraged Sihanouk to stay on the throne and thought that befriending the Americans and having their support would help save their country. Obviously, the leftists disagreed because it will just make the Vietnamese more angry and will put Cambodia in a suicidal state..
So there. Hope I made a point, lol.
