During the winter months, I'm rarely seen wearing a skirt or dress. It's way too cold for that. During the summer months, I frequently wear skirts and dresses as they are significantly cooler than pants. However, if I was ever told that I could not wear pants, not only would I continue to wear pants, but I would probably start to do most of my clothes shopping in the men's section as my way of protesting. I am a human being. I am a responsible American woman who goes to work and pays my taxes. I have no religious dictates as to dress code. Therefore, I will wear what I want. The only dress code I follow is at work, but I follow it at work only. Outside of the workplace, I'll wear what I want.

Yes, Mr.Sandstorm I do believe that women should be allowed to wear pants especially if the temperature hits 32 degrees F. You wouldn't want us women to freeze would you?

I think pants would be the most sensible thing to wear in freezing weather--32 degrees F is too cold for anything else (a skirt or dress).

Hi,

I am South African and here women are allowed to where what ever they want. Therefore we wear pants if it's hot, cold, summer winter ext ext.

So yes, I'd say yes they are allowed to wear pants, whether it is in the working environment, religion or just your normal day, it should be allowed. Why should we as women freeze our behinds off and that for what ever reason?

I was unaware that they needed permission to wear them at any temperature...the biblical reference to dress is shown below:

Deu 22:5 ¶ The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so [are] abomination unto the LORD thy God.

It is to discourage deceit...if a woman wears pants to protect themselves from the cold, it is not a slap in God's face -- in my opinion. My great-grandmother and great-great aunt would argue this scripture. One stuck strictly with scripture; the other would argue that a woman may wear men's clothing while performing man's work i.e. outdoors and chore related.

I would wear them and pray for forgiveness, if necessary. Men traditionally wore "robes" back then during the writing of the scripture...women wore overlays. Should men therefore wear vests with suits?

It may have been written to discourage homosexuality. During the particular "age", soap may have been a rare find. If you think about hygiene and spread of disease, it was much more prudent to forbid it than to condone it from a health perspective.

It is a rarity I wear pants but that is one of the few reason that I may wear pants but for the most part I am still in a skirt with very warm boots.

No. I've lived in some of the coldest places in mainland America and I've never had to wear pants. But if it isn't part of a persons religious beliefs, they shouldn't be forced to conform to what I think. So the answer to your question is: For me, no. For others, maybe depending on how they believe.

Only if they are very feminine-looking pants or maybe if we just wore leggings under our skirt or dress it would be more acceptable.
There are no exceptions for a lady to dress like a man but pants may be appropriate if it is very cold and sometimes for cleaning so they don't ruin their good clothes.

I don't know which women you're speaking of, but I'm pretty sure you'd want me to wear pants ALL the time.
