When the oven get up to temperature. an error code? "F1" flashes on the display. Of course its out of warranty now, so I'm just wondering what the problem is and how costly of a repair we're looking at.

thank you

Thanks for the his place can be great to throw something out for suggestions when you are too close to the problem and just kinda freaking out.

BTW, it simply will NOT shut off, no matter what. the only way to "turn it off" is to unplug it

You are looking at replacing the thermostat. $50-$75 if you do it yourself. Look in the yellow pages under Appliance Repair - Parts. Give them the make and model number.

One of 2 things.

Your thermostat has gone, or the controll chip in the little computer has gone berserk.

My money is on the thermostat. They can be relatively easily replaced, but rather have a profesional look at it!

Sounds like the automatic thermostat or switch. Call Sears, service department and explain it to them. They'll give you all the details on it. Have your make, model and serial number ready.
I wouldn't use the "cleaner" for now.
