They are getting leggy and starting to wilt in the unusually dry weather here in southern california

Just cut them back. I cut off the leggy parts, they will look small for a while but if you keep them watered they will come back full again.Usually they get like this because it is too hot and not enough water. I would water twice a day until they come back fuller.

Just cut them back. Strip off lower leaves and put them in water (clear container) to root, takes about a week. Aerate the soil and water.
