I heard plucking armpits may increase your chances of breast cancer. Is this true? If so, why do people still intend on doing it? Other comments welcome, only useful ones please.

I highly doubt this is true. I mean, how could plucking your armpit hair possibly increase the chances of breast cancer? People pluck hair from their eyebrows and upper lips and wax their legs (basically plucking the hairs out), and I've never heard of any such effects from that.

If you can show me valid proof that plucking armpit hair causes breast cancer, I will swallow my words. But right now I remain extremely skeptical. Sounds like something people made up to scare others. I pluck my armpit hairs all the time, so there.

By the way, that myth about deodorent and antiperspirant isn't true either. It was tested and confirmed false.

I cringe even thinking about plucking my armpits! How painful that would be! And how could it lead to breast cancer? We pluck our eyebrows; would that lead to breast cancer too?

ouch. why don't you just leave the whole area alone...it is actually really sexy and there's a reason we have a little hair there...it holds our personal perfume
