Isn't that a Mexican Holiday?

Christmas was a Scandinavian holiday. Cinco de Mayo is not, unfortunately, a federal holiday. Anyone can celebrate a holiday. It doesn't mean they'll get a day off, however.

Since when do we disclude holidays we haven't invented? It's bad enough that non-Abrahamic religions cannot get a day off when they worship. That Jews don't get Hanukkah and Passover off when Christians get a week for Christmas.

Life is unfair. Cinco de Mayo is a blast. For once these poor people can enjoy themselves without people reporting them all to INS, regardless of their status here.

First of all USA, as a nation, doesn't celebrate Cinco de Mayo. It is not a National Holiday, we do not get the day off from school or work.
Yes, it is a Mexican Holiday. But it is not either a Federal Holiday in Mexico. It is the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla. Not a big holiday. Sure there are some official celebrations but that is all.
Many people celebrate Cinco de Mayo here because, and here comes the tricky part, they are Mexican, Mexican-Americans or they just simply like to party.
Just like in St. Patrick's Day, you don't have to be Irish to celebrate it. If there are any celebrations in your city simply ignore them.

So there you go. You don't have to celebrate Cinco de Mayo if you don't want. It is not a National Holiday here or in Mexico.
Just a party holiday.

Why do we celebrate St. Patricks Day? Why do non-Jesus people have Christmas shoved down their throats? Why celebrate Passover?

As a nation, we are behind the curve big time on Holidays. We get these pansy *** little 1 day off deals. What we should be pushing for is like Hanukah... eight days off instead of 1. Maybe celebrate the Chinese New Year, mad days off. When the Muslims don't eat for a month? We should ask for that off too, since 'we're all one America.' I know the frogs get like 3 weeks off for no reason every summer. We should get 4, just to piss them off.

But the last thing we should be doing is bitching about a new Holiday and possible future day off.

Cinco de Mayo is a Holiday that was made up in the USA.
It's not important in Mexico. It's not like the 4th of July , and the USA doesn't celebrate it as a nation. And I'm sure you are not obligated to celebrate it either because this is a FREE COUNTRY.
If you do not like this Diverse country, go back to where your ancestors came from. And if your lucky everyone there will celebrate the same holidays that you do.

When you celebrate the Mexican, you celebrate what the Mexican represents, which is what the Global Elite want for the entire world. Mexicans are mixed with Mongoloid Indian, Spanish, West African, New Guinean, Jewish, Gypsy, Arab, and Filipino Pygmy... ALL mixed into one brown super-hybrid race... "La Raza." You might think that is a pretty awful mix, or you may think that it's the answer for the world... but that's why they are celebrated and cannonized by the globalist/universalist system which runs America today. I've lived with Mexicans my entire life, and believe me, they look and act every bit of that racial mixture! For a Mexican to discuss "race" is the farce of all time!!

Because if the Mexican army had not held off the French on that day, they would have marched on through to America, and we would all be speaking French right now.

Seriously, that is why. But also, it's just a fun drinking day for most Americans. They don't know why they're celebrating. They just know that they are.

But it is a very important part of our history.

So corporations can make money selling Cinco de Mayo liquors, gifts, cards, candies, toys, on and on and on. Like valentines. I'm pretty sure not everybody in the nation have girl or boy friend. Some of us are singles.

I think it depends on what area of the US you live in. I live in the northeast, and it's not what I would call a celebrated holiday. Most people don't even realize that day is a holiday.

Why do we celebrate Mardi Gras (French) Oktoberfest (German) St Patrick's Day (Irish) Kawanza (African-American) Passover, Roshanna and Yom Kippur (Jewish) Labor Day (when no one labors) Mother's Day (when one no longer has a mother or is a mother) Father's Day (ditto) President's Day (just two--what about other Presidents?) Sweetest Day (when you're neither sweet nor have a sweetie) April Fool's Day (who is that?) and Thanksgiving (when no one knows exactly when the Pilgrims celebrated) and Christmas (again, no one knows the day it happened)? Is anything truly American and accurate?
