Pacers/Jazz in 98?
Magic/Sonics in 96?

Portland would've won in 1992 because they were the best team. Phoenix in 1993 would've won, giving Barkley his ring. In 1996 I think Seattle would've won, and Utah would've won back to back titles in 1997 and 1998. Notice how I'm picking the teams that the Bulls defeated anyway. This is because the Eastern conference teams were not the best conference. Other than Indiana Pacers I don't know any other team in the East that could've competed in the Finals against a strong Western opponent. That's how dominant the Bulls were. It didn't matter who they played in the Finals. Too bad they didn't get the chance to play Houston. That would've been a DREAM match-up, no pun intended Olajuwon.

I think New York might have stole some Gold if Michael and the Bulls were not in. The Jazz probably, Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns.

The Rockets had the most legit chance, I mean come on when Jordan left who won the Championships the Rockets, then he came back and shattered all other teams dreams. I can give an argument for the Jazz, and Orlando, but the Rockets got it done.
Jordans the best

interesting question... i think the teams that might have won would be Portland TrailBlazers they were a tough team especially with clyde and all those bangers jerome kersey, buck williams and uncle cliff robinson. The Knicks might also won some gold they had a very competitive team back then unlike now hehehe!

maybe the teams that will have the most chances of winning are the houston rockets and utah jazz from the west and new york knicks and indiana pacers from the east. these teams were also led by very good players, hakeem olajuwon(clyde drexler when he moved to the rockets), john stockton and karl malone, patrick ewing(with his very good supporting cast, allan houston, latrell sprewell, marcus camby, etc.), reggie miller and jalen rose(also with their good supporting cast of antonio davis, rik smits, etc.)

Both of your proposed series sound good.

I think Reggie and Patrick would have both gotten rings if Mike had stayed retired when he first left.

MJ being off the map would alter so much, it's really hard to say more.
