i would say ideally one year. but the least amount of time should probably be 6 months. Not to say that you can't know that they are the one for you MUCH earlier than that.....but making it an official engagement too soon can complicate things when all you want to do is bask in the glow of engagement with each other. I would say Good for you for knowing what you want, and for having the frame of mind to be cautious about time. So maybe wait just a bit longer.....in the meantime you can save for her engagement ring a little bit longer so the purchase isn't as big a shock to your bank account. Or save a few more months for something else like the wedding, or honeymoon. Look at the glass as though waiting makes it half full by giving yourself some extra time to prepare!! Good Luck to the Both of You! I'm so happy for you!

6 months to a year. I was in a similar situation, and he popped the question on our 1 year of dating anniversary. It was so sweet! Sure by the time we were dating for 2 months, I knew we would end up married. It just felt right. But I'm very very glad that he waited until we had been dating a year, since it helped with the transition from friends to partners.

I would say at least a year. This will give you time to enjoy the dating and become even closer. When you hit the sixth month marker get the ring and ask her to marry you. this gives you six months to prepare for the wedding and get your place in order where you are going to live. Take your time setting up the big day and one you will remember forever! Good luck sweetie.

What do you mean you known her your whole life, what like seeing her walk down the street and saying Hi there how are you today. Or hanging out with her and her friends look if you really and truly love this woman then by all means ask her to marry you..

If you know in your heart that this is what you want then ask away. i do not believe there is a certain time length if you are in love and want to spend the rest of your life with no doubt with this person then go for it. Good Luck

If you think you have known her enough to pop the question, just do it. However, keep in mind that your life together will be different and having trust in each other will keep the relationship going. So think before you do anything.

Best time? When it's right, you'll know it. I married my hubby 2 months to the day after our first date. Happily married and going strong for over 3 years now. When it feels right to you, it will probably feel right to her. Go with it.

Put it on the backburner for at least another 60 years - trust me.
