so you feel like everybody's looking at you and judging everything you do...

do you look at everybody else and judge everything they do? if so - you need to work on that. i'm guessing you probably don't though.

trust me - people are not judging you. some might be, but who cares? who are they?

this is cheesy, but people who judge don't matter and people who matter don't judge.

The instant, I read your question. I thought of Condalisa Rice, Jorja Fox and my daughter. Three women, who have or have had, a gap between their teeth and don't seem to have suffered for it.

My daughters, eye teeth never grew in, causing her front teeth to drift. Once she was in her early teens the process of bringing her two front teeth together was started. In her later teens, i.e., after her jaw stopped growing, the implant process was started. She will get her permanent eye teeth this Saturday.

Please don't let this minor anomaly, hold you back. It can also be corrected if you so choose.

You will NEVER break out of your shell if you think that everyone is judging or laughing at you, even if you get your teeth fixed.

You are assuming first of all that people can about anything other than themselves. Guess, what. They don't.

So while you are sitting there all freaked out about how people think about your teeth, they're all probablly thinking things like "Man, I hope it doesn't rain today, I just washed my car." or "I can't wait to finish my degree, then I'll tell them to stuff this job" or "I'm soooo sad. My boyfriend (or girlfriend) just broke up with me." They are NOT thinking about you, at all. If they say anything at all about your teeth, its because they are 1) incrediblly mean or 2) trying to break the ice a litte bit, and are not trying to hurt your feelings.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that almost everyone in the world spends about 90-95 percent of their day thinking only about themselves. Maybe this is a cynical view of people, but I challenge anyone to disprove this fact.

One you figure out that no one is thinking about you, and people are extremely self centered, you will be free to live life the way you want - bad teeth and all. You will be able to say anything you want and do anything you want, because you will realize that people, in general are not concerned about you. They are only thinking about themselves.

It is truly liberating.

Hope this helps.

First things first. Get that teeth fixed. And then work on your other problem.

One way to counteract your self-conscious habits is to replace them with habits of effectiveness. A good self-help program you can get into is by reading the book, '7 Habits of Highly Effective People' written by Dr. Stephen Covey. I have used this book and his other self-help tapes in my counselling ministry and I can guarantee you the program really works. I hope this helps.
Peace and blessings!

Get your teeth fixed. Failing that, play on your other attributes in a social situation. A gap never stopped Madonna or Condoleeza (who's uglier than sin IMO)
