Are there streets or neighborhoods I should avoid? Anybody have any suggestions?

I'm looking to rent a small studio apartment, or small room as an 'american' address, so that I can visit with my Girlfriend who lives in St. Catherines, Ontario only a short drive away from Niagara and Buffalo. I'm looking into moving to Canada, eventually, but in the meantime need to find work and a place to stay as close to the border as is safe and as possible.

Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated. :)

I am sorry that I cannot help you in regard to accomodations, but I wanted to encourage you in your endeavor.

My husband and I did this on the West Coast, both moving to towns near the border so we could spend as much time together as possible. We did this for over two years, as we both had obstacles to immigration to deal with first.

Customs on both sides of the border has a bit of a problem with these unconventional relationships (we were married at the time, you might have less problems). I share this to prepare you for the occassional hassle at the border. Just be truthful, repeat the facts each time, and all will be well. It will likely happen both directions from time to time.

If you would like any information on the immigration process, or other input, feel free to contact me through my 360 page.

Blessings to you, and best of luck in your relationship and in life!!
