I don't get it. Really. Coersive sex and rape. Why does it happen. What's with people that they are capable of having sex with someone who doesn't want it. What kind of monster does this? ugh.

Our cultural narratives present women as passive, men as active.

The other day, my friend and I were talking about Disney films. In both Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, "true love's kiss" awakens the dead/sleeping girl. True love, however, is presented as something the man has for the woman, not something she is complicit in. Sleeping Beauty is almost about date rape.

But yeah, I don't really get it either, honestly.

I don't get it either but, I have had to do some research for my own sanity's sake!

Many theorists believe it is the control issue. I would tend to agree with this theory very much.

Others say, that some of these men hated their mothers and rape is one way they have of lashing out with that hate.

There are more thoughts on why men/women rape others. We musn't forget that men get raped too! It is not just a problem for we women! Although, I would have to say that no matter the gender, rape has the same effect upon men as it does women! Maybe, even more so! Just what I observed when I looked into this behavior.

My thought is that it takes a very twisted mind to want to force something from someone which is suppose to be an act of "love."

When I was in tech college I had my pick of any guy I wanted. There was this one guy who'd come up to me, say things like if you got it flaunt it. On the whole I avoided him, well this one day I just so happened to be in the wrong place at the right time, got my arms pinioned to my side and was escorted out to his camper parked in the school parking lot. There was no way to escape as the back of those things are small to begin with, he was blocking the door and he was oh about a foot taller and had over 80 pounds on me. Some rapes are because of control, other underlying issues and lust.

Men are feeling like they are losing power in the world today
Woman gets better jobs, gets higher pay and is more competative than before
Before woman when supressed and over ruled by men
And that men are losing power and woman gets a voice they tend to force sex on to them this gives them some kind of power
I dont think that rape is no more that before i just think that before it was never mentioned because men had the power and woman had to listen and do what they wanted

Man, some guys are sick. Some hate others. Some really want to have sex. So they use dominance to achieve their goals. That is just sick man.

I think it has something to do about power and domination.
Maybe the males seem, to themselves useless and weak.
My best guess watching A&E.
