its been predicted by astronomist that on friday 13th 2029, an asteroid named Apophis will pass earth and loop back around by 2036 it will head back to Earth with a 1 in 5,500 chance of hitting us.

see links below. its been in the news for about 3 years now to my knowledge

If it comes, it comes, but, I don't expect it to happen.. after all, what are ya going to do, hide under the bed? If it's in God's plan, which I seriously doubt, then it'll just be what happens.

Why hide? If you're gonna die in a huge ball of fire, you might as well do it with some style. Hiding in a cave is too cowardly. I'd say do the best you can with the last few hours of your life.

Incidentally, the UN tackled this matter recently: a panel of scientists asked them to find some way to stop the asteroid before it gets here. I figure if the UN does something about it, the planet won't need an asteroid to be destroyed; then again, if they do, they'll probably just issue a very strongly worded resolution against the asteroid in the hope that it will scare it into a different vector. Whatever.

1/5500 is pretty low odds

we will know much better when it gets closer

doesn't alarm me yet, there are many more things that will be bigger problems than whether an asteroid might hit us in almost 40 years...
