I can't enter volume control it tells me to add hardware in control panel. When i go there it won't work. I tried unplugging and replugging and it still won't work. I also tried system restore but i can't do that either.

Hi,

I just just had this problem last week on my pc. You will need to replace the sound card. I recently upgraded my old pc from Windows 200 to XP, once completed my sound was gone.

A new sound card will run you between $10-30, depending on where you got it from and how many Bits you are seeking.

My sound card is 64 bits, and I use it manly to listen to music, and have general sound on my Pc. If you are into more advanced audio programs, like music production, etc, then you need more Bits.

I hope this helps. The sound card comes with an installation disk

go to control panel, system, click on the hardware tab, then device manager. look for the sound and video game controller. click on the little box next to it. then double click on the audio controller. on the bottom. make sure it's enabled. if ther is a yellow ! on it, reinstall the driver.
