Why can't we just be? The United States is a free country so why is there so much pressure to be one exact way? I can't stand this anymore and am contemplating suicide.

Please don't commit suicide, period. Whether you believe it or not, you have so much to give the world. If you are thinking about committing suicide then you need to get some counseling. There is a reason why you are here on this earth. You have a purpose. You may ask what it is and i don't know, but i know everyone has a purpose. Those people who feel they have to be spectacular, and popular, and perfect are all insecure. Society feeds on it because what is attractive and beautiful is considered the most important. But society is insecure and shallow. Those who find themselves, and love themselves, and believe in who they are, and their abilities; those are the spectacular ones. That's what is truly important. Believe me you will have a happy life focusing on what makes YOU spectacular. Please realize that and don't think about killing off someone who can give so much to the world; yourself.

Majority of people make their decisions based on celebrities/media. It's a shame actually. I appreciate the underdog and those people who don't succumb to the pressure of society. I eagerly strive to go against the grain.

not everyone tries to be spectacular you just notice the people who do more. there's nothing wrong with being your own person or being mediocre in societies eyes as long as you are doing what makes you happy. don't live for other people, live for yourself.
