if i use medication, and i remove the carbon from the filter, them what will happen to my filter? do i leave it on? because i have a whisper filter and they are based on carbon

yes you leave it on just remove the filter carthridge completely for the reccomended time that is says on the bottle and you want to leave it on to help circulate the medication you may have to treat more than once it it dont help the first time

The purpose in removing the carbon is so that the carbon won't absorb the medication you put in there. Just leave the filter on to keep the water in the aquarium in constant movement.

One suggestion of medicating fish is to put them in a quarantine tank, if your main tank has many uninfected fishes and other living organisms (plants, crustaceans). This would put less stress on your other fishes.

Just take out the part that contains the carbon and keep the filter running and moving water.
