My 1995 saturn is running on three cylinders with only 30% lbs of pressure, according to my mechanic. I am driving it - it runs very rough at 40mph and then smooths out once you get to 50mph and upwards. Is it doomed to the junk yard?

Go to the junkyard and get another engine. Put it in yourself or have a mechanic do it for you.

The best advice I can offer is get a second and/or third opinion.
Not all mechanics are totally honest, and some are COMPLETELY dishonest.

Buy another engine from a salvage yard.

I would get a second opinion but if it is low on compression then it would be cheaper to get another engine
