Yes and no.
Commitment, intelligence, steady aim, calm head, women without a doubt have all these traits.
But, as you said, strength comes into play sooner or later in this job (or you are one lucky cop) and I frequently cringe when I watch a female officer on "Cops" or some such TV show wrestle with an assailant in desperate need of some back-up...
But there are thin, or unhealthy fat, men doing the job, and most cops regardless of sex want their "back-up" close at hand for developing situations.
Bottom line: we need ONE physical and mental test for potential police officers, without regard to sex. If you can shoot this target, drive this car safely and quickly, fill out these numerous forms, and do such-and-such push-ups, you get the job.
Firefighting ran into this dilemma not too long ago when women (no offense to anyone out there) fought and gained the right to join the department. They changed the physical test in most major cities for women and time and time again overweight people (and other examples) have died in fires because the officer on the scene was unable to lift and carry the person to safety.
America is in one heck of a dilemma regarding what is "fair" on paper and in theory, and what is actually best for the public and our safety.
Good question!

Yes, have you seen cops or wife, mom, bounty hunter? A lot of these female officers and security can handle themselves pretty darn well if you ask me, sometimes better than some of the biggest, strongest male officers out there. Plus I'd rather have a female cop on my side, they're not as scary (usually) and they're easier to talk to.

Actually I've seen where male officers were over powered by suspects who were on PCP. It's always a roll of the dice specially at traffic stops. Officers are trained to sense danger and usually call for back up when a situation arises.

There are some lady cops out there that can kick butt..
I bet Chuck Lydell from UFC would have his hands full.
Is Killbill a wuss..I live in Pittsburgh this lady cop I know
lifts she can press 210 lbs 20 times They talk of her
taking down an athlete 6 '2" 230 like he was a 90lb weakling without weapons simple physical stuff. I personally saw
her charge a gang of 5 young toughs alone and send them cowering..Women can built muscle ,and if you give them
a gun .a radio. and a badge It would be foolhardy to
challenge them..

It's true, the majority or males are phycially stronger than the majority of females, but what we lack in physical strength we make up for in decesive reasoning and self control. And females officers if trained correctly, most times are better shots than males.

Well if she can't handle the heat then she should stay out of the kitchen. But if she made it to the street then she went through the Academy and they DO teach them self defense as well as control maneuvers where they can keep control over someone who is bigger and or stronger then they are.

SURE! I THINK FEMALES HAVE THE SAME THING AS MEN OFFICERS, AND THAT IS GUTS, ALL THAT THE FEMALES NEED TO DO IS TO BE CAREFUL WHEN THEY DO THEIR JOB AS LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, SO THEY NEED TO BE CAREFUL WHEN DOING THE JOB.

Yes, but I think they are more witty than they are strong. They could probably do well to partner with a man where the man could use his strength and the woman could use her brain so that they would make a great team.

they got guns, unlike here only policeforce on the planet with no guns (they run away).
She can:
Shoot the guy (the favorite option)
Call for help (get slagged off)
Run away (as above) or
Jump on him (cause she bigger than the rest of the guys in the force)

As long as they have a gun, they should be okay. Also, if they are bigger in stature, I think they have a better chance of handling an assailant.
