Past time for new tires. I'm trying to find the width of the rims on my '06 Superglide. The size cannot be found in the owner's manual, or the factory service manual. I could always take off the old tire, and measure the rim, but there must be someone that knows already. I'm mostly concerned with the rear, as I already will be using a numerically identical one on the front. The rims in question are the ones that came stock on the bike. "Custom Aluminum Profile Laced", and the rear is 17" dia.

vlxsixhundred has described exactly what I looked for. The specific rim size is not printed on this tire (ex: 4.00-4.15 or 5.00).

The tire itself will provide information on the sidewall. For example, a tire which reads "170/80-15" means the tread width is 170 millimeters, the sidewall height is 80% of the tread width, and the tire fits a 15 inch rim.
If you are looking for the rim specifics, those may be printed on the side bead of the rim itself. Carefully check the side of the rim for a small line of print which may say something like "17 X 6 RW", meaning, in this example, the diameter of the rim is 17 inches, and the actual width is 6 inches.
