Yes! I hope they do. It bugs me to have to scroll down a page forever.

What purpose would that accomplish? The issue of imposing an arbitrary length on answers is not beneficial to the question and answer format. By imposing such limits, the potential value of answers is diminished by forcing abridgment of more informative answers.

Some of the best answers I have seen were several paragraphs long and very enlightening. Indeed, allowing long responses allows the author of an answer to elaborate his or her point and make the answer itself easier to understand. Doing so helps to cut down on ambiguity which has a direct bearing on the perceived quality of an answer. By forcing answers to be truncated, the field will be essentially limited to answers that will be, or be perceived as being ambiguous in meaning and at the same time will not permit the answerer to provide a more thorough explanation.

When answering questions about deep subjects, should one need to omit important aspects of the issue in order to fit an arbitrary criterion of length? I would argue no. Any such limit, again, limits the value of an answer. In closing, there should not be such a limit set on the length of an answer.

No if you don't want to read long answer then just scroll. But some questions need long answer to fully cover the issue or topic.

They already do. The least they could do is increase the limit. Let's say 5000 or something.

No the reason why we have Q&A is to answer people questions. Polls is just really for fun. But in the other areas it is valid as some questions need explaining.

A poem by Cap’n Donna

No freakin way!
That’s what I say
Don’t restrain me
Don’t ruin my play!
I’ve got a good thing going,
Here on Y! A
It gets me through
The boring parts of my day!

I don't think there should be a limit. Sometimes there's a lot you want to say!
