I bite my nails constantly and they are ugly. I would like to know if there are fake nails for men and where to get them.

I don't need to hear from idiots. This is a serious problem, so if you have not had to worry about such a thing. As far as looking gay, clear polish would look gay. And I'm not worried about people thinking that, I'm 6' 300lbs and a biker, so serious answers. This is something that really bothers me. And I've tried the bitter and hot stuff.

I really do appreciate you asking this question. I found this post by looking up this exact thing. I have been biting my nails since I was about 5 years old and I'm 45 now. It's a disgusting habit and I can't seem to quit either. I had fake nails put on at a salon about 7 years ago and cut down and a dull polish put on them to make them look like real men's nails and they still looked really fake and obvious. I think I will take the suggestions here and start trying the manicure route. My fingernails are so bad that I don't think they will ever grow back right. I have chewed them down to the skin where the nail should be and it is pretty much gone. They have lumps where the nail grows back and not to mention the cuticles are almost destroyed. I'm very self conscious about this too. Thanks for asking and hopefully you've found a solution by now. Good luck.

You can get fake nails done professionally at a nail salon. I've never had them done professionally but it's probably best to book an appointment since the process can take at least an hour. If you don't want them to look effeminate then ask the nail technician to give your fake nails a more natural finish and to keep them short. Fake nails can be quite expensive and need refills every few weeks so be prepared. However if it stops the nail biting then I guess it's worth it. Alternatively you can buy cheaper glue on fake nails at drugstores.

I don't bite or suck my nails but think polish on my nails looks neat. But the polish only lasts about a week or less. I'm told that there are artificial nails for men but haven't seen any as yet. Men abuse their nails by working with them.

I think that your really brave for asking this question. My advice is that fake nails might not be the way you want to go. While I do know that it helps people stop biting their nails, it also makes your real nails worse and weak. You have to give them time to heal after taking them off, because they will be really thin and break easily.

This would be more a deal for you than it would be for a woman because women don't mind wearing fake nails, but I get the feeling that you only want to wear them for a short time which might make it worse.

I have heard that if you bite your nails or suck your fingers, one way to stop is every time you want to bite (or suck), then instead of doing that you put something else in your mouth, like a sucker--but anything will do. If you replace one oral fixation with another that should help. Good luck!!

fake nails work for both sexes. When you buy them, just make sure that you don't get the really long or french tip type, and make sure that you trim them down to what you would consider "normal" and then paint on the ends with a white nail polish in a base applicator sponge by rubbing the outer edge across the whetted lightly and evenly, in as few strokes as possible, just enough to make it look like you don't bite them. Fake nails are a really good idea for nail biters because they boost self-esteem as the problem is covered up immediately, and since both the acrylic or vinyl and nail polish on the nails taste terribly bitter it deters further biting, allowing the nails to grow, and eventually heal.

You can go to a salon and get a men's manicure, which would just clean up the look of your nails and add a little clear polish. There are no "fake nails for men" for sale, there are just nails. As a man, you can get artificial nails applied at any salon. Ask the nail technician for an acrylic overlay.

If the woman takes the trouble to put on fake nails then we do appreciate the trouble.. but the fake nails alone doesnt make much of a difference..

I think fake nails on men would tend to make you look gay. I have a bad nail fungus and as a way to make my nails look better I do a maincure at home weekly. Trim the ends, shape with a file and then polish. For you I would sugest weekly maincures, (about 15 bucks a pop) this will help your nails look better and be less likely to bite plus it is not an unusual thing for men to do, unless you apply red polish!

Honestly get a manicure and stay regular with it... once a week or every other week. It will help a ton and in time - over time you'll feel a lot more confident about your nails. Also, you should look into doing something about your oral fixation... I have a couple guy friends that keep a tooth brush handy... don't knock it til ya try it.... Helped a couple people quit smoking

You could go to any nail salon. You would just have the nails cut short and have a clear coat of polish put on them.
