Forbidden Planet was based on Sheakspeare's "The Tempest."
"The Day The Earth Stood Still" was more of a modern allergory about the Cold War (people are people, no matter where they are from).

The monsters of the Id. Morbius was blind to his own sinister self. Probably the best sci-fi movie of the '50s with the best robot ever. I would love to see a modern remake of it. It wasn't a fable, it was attributed to resemble Shakespeare's "The Tempest".
Gort displayed the first use of LASER beams which were not even in the experimental stage back then.
