Okay, we're learning the pythagorean therom....
i dont need to show work...all i need is the answer.
(squared)-stands for to the second power.idk how to type that out.Formula-A(squared)+B(squared)=C(squared)...

[3].How long is the lake?
21(squared)+B(squared)=30(squared)

[4].The state of Wyoming is shaped like a rectangle that is about 360 miles by 280 miles.
4a-What is the longest distance you could go in a straight line and still remain in Wyoming?
4b-Estimate the longest distance in your state.(Wisconsin-156 miles by 286 miles)..

[5].How far apart are the planes?
5(squared)+8(squared)=C(squared)

[6].How high does the ladder reach?
3(squared)+B(squared)=15(squared)

[7].How long is each rafter?
18(squared)+9(squared)=C(squared)
&
12(squared)+9(squared)=C(squared)

[8].Name the primitive Pythagorean triple to which 16-30-34 belongs.

Please dont answer unless u actually know the answer.and make sure that u take the square root of B(squared) or C(squared).

3) See, this is what happens when you type out long strings without using any spaces. The lines get cut of.

4) If the state is rectangular shaped, then the longest distance you could travel is from one corner to the opposite corner. This distance is also the hypotenuse of a right triangle with one leg that's 360 miles and one leg that's 280 miles (draw a rectangle representing Wyoming, label the sides, and you'll see). So the distance is sqrt(360^2 + 280^2).

5-7) See #2.

8) A Pythagorean triple is a set of integers that fit a^2 + b^2 = c^2. You can multiply these three numbers by any common factor, and the Pythagorean triple will still hold. So see if 16, 30, and 34 have any factors in common:
16, 30, 34 =
2(16), 2(15), 2(17)
You can't factor these out any more, and 2 isn't a perfect square, so 16, 30, 34 is the original Pythagorean triple.

Apparently, you didn't catch the fact that this is a free and completely open forum, and nobody is obligated to do what you say. You get what you pay for!

[3]
21² + B² = 30² so
B² = 30² - 21² = 459 and
B = 21.42

Now *you* do the [4] thru [7] so you'll learn how to do them. I won't be around to take your next test for you ☺

[8]
The primitive triple is (8, 15, 17)

BTW..... If you want to *create* primitive triples, choose 2 positive integers (m, n) with m bigger than n. Then calculate
a = m² - n²
b = 2mn
c = m² + n²
then a² + b² = c² and you have (a, b, c) as a primitive Pythagorean triple ☺

4a) 456.0701700396552 miles.
4b) 325.77906623968334 miles.

5) 9.433981132056603 units.

6) 14.696938456699069 units.

7a) 20.12461179749811 units.
7b) 15 units.

8) You must have the numbers wrong because 16,30,34 is NOT a Pythagorean triple.
