technically speaking the American Revolution was not a conquest as such because it was not a direct invasion of the English land mass, the storming of the Bastille (French prison) was conducted in France, invasion of 1688 by William of Orange was the last successful battle on the English land mass unless you consider the German invasion of the Channel Isles during WWII.

This a a bad question. Most people will answer C. the Norman Invasion of 1066 . But the invasion of 1688 was the last successful conquest of England.
The Dutchman William of Orange landed at Torbay with an army of German and Dutch troops to depose King James II at the request of some English traitors who wanted a Protestant on the throne instead of James who was a Catholic.
The English army went to repel the invaders but lost their nerve when they got to Salisbury and ran away without giving battle.
This is rarely taught as history because it is politically incorrect in a country ruled by the Church of Englnad
