Well, there's a lot of ways to look at this, depending on ones political views, but since you asked ... the break in at the Watergate DNC headquarters was rumored to have been the result of the Republican Party's efforts to obtain a phone book that recorded the names and numbers of prostitutes the Democrats were using to "entertain" their party members. Had those who broke into the Watergate found that book it would have spelled the doom of the Democratic Party, perhaps forever, since after Pres. Johnson they were generally hated and distrusted by the nation and were generally hated by everyone for their constant waffling, and disarray. Diane Nash was part of SNCC and was part of the effort to make the Democrats more forward thinking and more liberal. So in their own way, each of these groups and events were an effort to attack the Democrats and an effort to get them to support other groups.
