I believe that what we call leprosy today was NOT the disease referred to as leprosy in the bible. But here is some information that may help you.

The term "leper" was actually applied to anyone with an unknown skin condition. The person was brought to the temple priests for examination twice, six months apart. If the skin condition continued then the person was labeled a leper. Lepers had to live outside the city in their own camps. Unfortunately, if a person wasn't a leper, once relegated to the camps they would become infected.

Wherever they went they had to call out "I am a leper." so that other people could avoid them. They couldn't drink from the same wells as non-lepers. They lived on charity -- food and clothes people would leave for them. People didn't donate much so they often lived on the edge of starvation.

What exactly do you mean? Leprosy was a skin condition, and a leper would be a man with leprosy. His life would have been about the same as another man back in Jesus' time. He would have probably been looked down on, though. Read in the Bible about the leper. You may learn a lot.

Living hell. Leprosy at the time was an incurable disease, and if you were found to be a leper you were immediately kicked out of your community, or put in an institution for lepers. Basically all you could do was stay away from normal humans as much as possible and pray that you would heal naturally. Wherever you went you would have to ring a bell or shout "unclean, unclean" so that people would be aware of your disease, and could get out of the way, as they believed it was extremely contagioius. Leprosy at the time was considered god's vengence for some horrible mistake of yours, all the more reason for people to stay as far as they could away from you. srry I wud type more but im in a hurry

Lepers were sent to live in leper colonies, where they suffered a painful death alone with no family except the other lepers because the people of that time period believed that leprosy was highly contagious.

If you are a leper - you don't get to live in town - you get to live in a cave in the country, perhaps with other lepers

your family may come bring you eats - and set it down a few feet from you - then run - so you won't contaminate them

should you venture from your cave - you will need to carry a bell and call out - "unclean" - to anyone who comes near you

a very sad existence

Well.
Obviously the leper wasn't allowed to talk to anyone.
They had to keep everything to themselves.
Nobody cared for them.
A leper would probably shuffle along the edges of darkness.
Until Jesus come along.

from my knowledge, I believe they were treated as a separated society. what i mean by seperated society is they were banished from the common society and placed in a leper society, like prisoners of illness. They were allowed to come draw water only at curtain wells at curtain times . family would bring food to curtain areas , but were totally shuned.
