California born and raised. I call it soda, and I do have to admit that when I hear someone call it "pop" I wonder where they are from. I've heard it called that when I have visited the midwestern states, and in fact, I think I was the odd one calling it "soda" while I was there. So yeah, to make a long story short, in general californian-ites typically don't say "pop"

I live in the north bay area, and it's soda. Back in the midwest it was pop. And pop is more prevalent the farther east you go. If you go to the south, it's always Coke. Whether or not you want a Coke. The waitress asks you what kind of Coke you want. I don't get that.
