On which side of the Berlin Wall was the Brandenburg Gate?

I can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere!

East. It was in East Berlin and it was a never-ending issue for the people in the Western sectors because it is a place of pride. Today, of course, Berlin is united, so there is no east or west.

It was on the eastern side.
