there are some risks to the baby....mostly for down syndrome but n othing is definite. And they have tests for that.
I am going to be 36 years old this month and am pregnant with my 2nd son. And plan to have more. So, I would say no it's not too old. Enjoy your life.

No,youre not too old. Your risks for certain chromosomal disorders is "increased" but that certainly doesnt mean that you will fall victim by any stretch, and in todays medical world with such advanced technology, if there is a problem you can certainly detect it early enough to prepare yourself to make a fully educated decision. I found out today, as 23 that I have a 1 in 116 chance of having a baby with downs (for my age group is should be closer to 1 in 1050). The typical healthy 35 year old has a 1 in 250 chance. Those odds arent worth just never trying to give a chance at new life. Good luck!

Well, my mother is pregnant and she's 38. I also have a perfectly healthy 1 yr. old sister, and a perfectly healthy brother who is almost 3.
Everything has been fine so far with this pregnancy as well, and the baby looks great.
Obviously, your risks for certain birth defects do increase in women over 35, but you can still have perfectly healthy children. Best of luck to you!

Of course it's OK! I believe the oldest person to have a child was like, 60 years old (that's a little to old)! But in any event, your children will always love you, no matter your age. Try to be energetic and fun, even if you feel tired in a few years. Just think, when your children are 18 and going of to collage you'll only be 53 (I think...maybe 54). I know someone who just turned 9 and her dad is 50! So don't worry. It's best you forfill your dreams and become a mother.
Best of luck.

Not at all. There are women well into their 40s having babies now a days. Having 38 is considered a "risky" age, but the changes of you having complications are slim to none, especially if youre healthy and active. I wouldn't worry about it. Ask your doctor if you have any questions. Best wishes to you and good luck! =]

Nope, 38 isn't too old. :) Granted, women over age 35 do have an increased risk of having babies with Downs Syndrome, but they are still miracles nonetheless.
I wish you all the best, congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

I am actually 38 and 2 months pregnant. I'm a little worried, but with advances in today's medicine I feel a bit more at ease. I've known several women who conceived into their forties and everything turned out okay. Your doctor will take good care of you and there are all sorts of prenatal testing, too. Best wishes!

Kind of but not really. 38 is. Plus, you wouldn't want to have kids at age 38, you would probably already be slowing down and won't be able to keep up with your little monsters! Lol. I'd suggest you start now. Lol

Absolutely not. Women start to cause harm for themselves or their babies at the ages of 50-60. Unless the mother has a serious health issue retaining to pregnancy. The eggs start to deteriorate around menopause or within 5 years of it.
hope i helped!

It's more dangerous because of your body and the risk of retardation and downs syndrome. My mom had me at 39 and my brother at 42 and we turned out fine. Good luck.
