Is this a legitimate amount. I work with the person and we decided not to go through insurance companies since I knew I was completely at fault. I just have no idea how much something like that costs. She says it can't be buffed out it has to be completely repainted. She has the bill and is mailing it to me. It seemed like a lot to me. Any thoughts?

sounds about right, they may have to bondo it too, but then again, she may be getting the whole package, door jams and runners and all that crap too, so look at the bill, and make sure its just a paint match, and not a whole new door pretty much.

Depends on the damage. If the panels are heavily dented or torn or it you took off a lot of her paint, or if you hit two or more panels, then 900 would be about right.

However if you didnt do a lot of damage, say lightly dented it and left your paint on HER car, then it is most likely buff-able and the dents are removeable. The 900 would seem excessive.

Legally she should have got at least three quotes, and picked the cheapest.

Even though you are at fault and even if she has already got the repairs done, you can take her to court if you think you have been ripped off, especially if she didnt get a range of quotes.

Good luck

That's allot of money to repaint a bumper it should be like 450 to 500 to repaint the bumper. I would go to another body shop and get another estimate.

It depends on the damage and how many panels must be re-painted. If it is just one panel, a good body shop and blend it so the new painted panel won't stand out so much.

If you just hit one panel (drivers door), then just one panel needs painted. But if you scraped across many panels and creased the sheet metal, then the price goes up.

Get a second opinion so you can compare. Good luck.

It's a reasonable amount. You might ask them to get one other estimate just to confirm though. Most people don't realize the amount of work & materials that are involved in properly refinishing today's vehicles.

Sounds reasonable enough to paint a whole side but I would have gotten 3 or 4 estimates just to see how they compare............Paul

look at the sheet of the estimate to see if all the damage is really there. get another body shop to do an estimate and compare.

Sounds kinda cheap to me I hit a deer in my 2006 explorer and it cost me $3600.00 for a headlight, fender, paint, and labor.
