It's axis is pointing at an angle (98 degrees) that is almost pointing directly at the sun. The planet is rolling on its side.

All planets rotate on an axis. But all planets (but Uranus) are tilted by 10-30 degrees, but Uranus is tilted by nearly 80 degrees. This means that when a given hemisphere experiences winter it is always night time. So night and winter mean the same thing on Uranus. And summer is always daytime.
