If an attacking player is offside inside the blue line, but the defending team has the puck, the linesman will give the defending team an opportunity to move the puck and begin an attack before blowing his whistle and stopping play. If the defending team failes to move the puck outside its blue line, the offside call is made.

Offsides occurs when an offensive player enters the offensive zone before the puck. It is called when an offensive player plays the puck while the player who was offsides is still in the zone. However, if an offensive player enters the zone and then the puck is dumped into the zone, the offensive player can leave the zone and "tag up," so long as no other offensive player touches the puck before he does so. This is delayed offsides.

Offsides is when a player enters his offensive zone before the puck. In a delayed offsides, the team that is in their defensive zone has the puck. The offensive player enters the zone before the puck, but the defender gets a hold of it. The linesman will give the defense a chance to move the puck out before calling offsides.

Same as delayed penalty. Control of the puck
Offside - player passes blue line before puck and you have control of the puck
Delayed offside - player passes blueline before the puck, but you don't have control. So 1) If you get control, offside will be called, 2) The other team has control and can attack the other way, 3) your team fully leaves the offensive zone (tag up) and renter onside.

with delayed offsides, you can dump the puck in even if one of your players is in the offensive zone. all of the offensive players must come out of the zone and they then can re-enter the zone. if you dump in the puck in and the offensive player is below the hash marks or you dump the puck in on net then it is an automatic offsides.
with regular offsides, if an offensive player is in the zone and you dump the puck in it is an automatic offsides and you have no chance to "tag up" or cross over the blue line

offsides is when the team crosses the blue line when one player was already in and delayed means they dumped the puck in when someone was past the blue line and in this case the player can tagged up at the blue line and then the offsides is waved off
