I think a protest is a great idea! I don't think many people would be willing to do it though.

are you looking for fun, or are you serious about doing something constructive? if you cut demand, you can affect prices-a boycott is a stupid idea...unless you mean boycotting frivolous travel, like driving 5 blocks to starbucks for an overpriced cup of coffee, or driving from mall to mall all over town to find 'just the right' shoes...as for protests like 'there used to be in the 60's...get real! i guess it looks sooooo cool in some movie or tv show, but the dead and wonded kids at kent state didn't think it was much fun...nor did the protesters and news crews beaten in the chicago streets at the '68 convention...and don't get me started on the civil rights demonstrators facing police dogs, tear gas, high pressure hoses, beatings, shootings...people were putting their lives on the line to try to bring about important changes...i seriously doubt this generation could pry themselves away their cushy lifestyle long enough to change a lightbulb...

It could potentially if enough people did it. As is stands right now, it might not make a big difference... But it has been reported as helping in the past. The best thing we could do is just use less gas, period. Ride your bike when you can, jog, hybrid cars, JAPANESE cars... Their cars average gas of about 50 miles to the gallon. That's way beyond American standard. So to answer you question of the May 15th boycott in all honesty... Maybe. But don't get your hopes up.

I don't think the May 15 gas boycott will do anything, they know we will have to get gas the next few days!!
It would be great if it did work and prices drop about 30 cents!!!

Don't pump gas on may 15th
...in April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.
On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.
There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.
If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companys pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.
If you agree (which I cant see why you wouldnt) resend this to all your contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th"

no, i'm no business minded person, but wouldn't a boycott make the gas prices rise more? to make up for the lost money?

Last time they had a gas boycot it dropped 30 cents per gallon. It took 1.7 million dollars out of the oil company's pockets..
I do think it will help and I am perticipating.

I don't think it will help much, they know we have to buy gas sooner or later. All we can do is try to conserve and drive more efficient cars. My truck only gets 16 mpg, but at least it runs on e85.
