I bought a bicycle. I can't use it to go to work in the rain, but I did select my job near where I live on purpose. As for recreational driving...it's out of the question.
The law makers are the only ones who can afford gas at whatever price the oil companies want. But like many major corporations, the CEO's make 100 times what the workers do. There is NO accountability for this! Therein lies the rub.

If ever there was an industry that needs government regulation, this looks like it. EVERYTHING in our economy is dependent on fuel prices in some way. The best defense is to sell that stupid Escalade or Excursion and get a small import for your commute, or carpool, take the train, etc. (I hated to do it but I sold my 4Runner last year for a Matrix, now I get over 30mpg. ) Congress is looking over a bill this month that will demand better mpg from automakers over the next decade. Let's hope they pass it.

How do we protest what we most need that is the problem, if they say we have to pay 5 dollars a gallon what will we do stop working? this gas thing is going to cause inflation everywhere and in the stores every time theres a hike at the pump everyone pays in everywhere even when we grocery shop, so we are double triple paying for Gas hikes.

They'd almost have to pass laws restricting driving times such as TO WORK AND BACK ONLY. No joyriding. Use your car only when absolutely necessary! Then have police officers back that law up.
Sounds resricting doesn't it?
That's what it would take though, something like that.
Protesting would not work.
btw/ if "Bush started this war over oil" then...why are prices getting higher? Shouldn't they be getting lower?

I think Bush should put a freeze on the prices. I can't afford to go out and buy another car right now. I wish there was something we the people could do to get them down.

They can, but they won't. What do you think the oil barons do with their obscene profits. They buy politicians.
