As a species, I think we are ****** - we wont be able to get food from the ocean - we need the land to live on and if we cut down more forests to make fields and pastures, we will accelerate climate change. What are we gonna do!??!

Yes, because some scientists predicted an ice age once, no scientific predictions - even those that are already happening, like severely depleted fisheries - can ever be true. Right.

Ah, the pendulum swings to the left... I remember not too many decades ago, the scientific community was telling us that we were headed for another ice age AND that within ten years, the world would be out of petrolium. And they all had pretty convincing evidence... This is the same group that once said the world is flat...

I guess we are just going to have to adapt as best as possible. You know, fish farms and such.

By the way, concerning global warming. Three questions: What is the earth's optimum temperature? What would be the effect of increased CO2 on plant life globally? Historically, which periods of global climate (warmer or cooler) have been more conducive to biodiversity?

Maybe when the polar icecaps melt we'll be able to fish that region. It'll also create a really nifty passageway between Western Europe and East Asia. Here's hoping!
