It really depends on the family. I am very strict about what my children see, but I do allow the Simpson's. I explain to the smaller kids that it is not OK to make fun of dad or to behave like Bart. Then we talk about other ways to do things. I know it sounds a bit psychologistish, but that's my take.

It's less of a bad influence than Bugs Bunny was. At least the Simpsons works with Christian themes, at times. The logic of Bugs Bunny cartoons (specifically the Roadrunner and the Coyote) were purely chaotic, mean spirited, mocking, and hateful. Did you ever see when the coyote falls off a cliff and an anvil falls on his head? Now that is a bad influence on children!

I have been watching the Simpsons since I was very young. And I still watch them. I do not think they are a bad influence.

My baby was watching that at 2-3 months and she smiled and laughed at Family Guy and at 4-6 months Futurama and Simpson's. I own the complete seasons of all of those TV shows.
Love em.
It's better than real life shows that show real people doing stupid things that kids can imitate real easy
