Would it pass through if I installed not a genuine XP, and then upgraded it to vista? Does this work, cause I don't want to buy the full no upgrade vista?

Stay away from it like the plague for about 1-3 years. Stick with XP. Vista is nothing more than a glorified, harder to fix, windows ME. Seriously though....I worked on somebody's BRAND NEW laptop...which Vista would not connect to the network AT ALL so I popped in a linux live cd and BAM, it worked fine...Vista is not something that I would go to just yet.

Trust the good people here, do not waste your time upgrading, if your XP is working and working well, you are simply asking for trouble, and in weeks to come, you be back again asking how to remove Vista and put back XP, which will be difficult.
