I'm 11 weeks pregant with my first child, and I had a very wierd doctors visit.

It started out normal take your weight and then ask you to leave a urine sample.

Normal right?

I was told there were cups in the restroom and to just leave it on the sink.

This would be normal if only when I went into the restroom there was not someone else's sample waiting on the sink for the nurse to take care of.

I thought this was unprofession, and very unsanitiary. Plus the cups were unmarked so who's was it and how long could that cup have been sitting there before I told them?

Then why do I tell my doctor I'm having problems and that I'm in quite a bit of pain and she basicly ignore me?

Yes she did schedule me to come and see her in a week.
But the pain was soooo unbareable that I was found going to the er two days later. only to find out the the problem that my dr ignored could infact cause a miscarriage.

I'm really freaked out and honestly just want to know what anyone else would do

They are suppose to take the sample as soon as the person leave the bathroom. At my dr's we always wrote our names on there... I have had this happen, and honestly mistakes do happen. But about your DR......For some reason it seems that women dr's sympathies LESS with women. When you go to the doctor you should feel like she is making YOU the number 1 priority, sounds like she rather be fishing lol....I would switch just for that reason, especially since you are only 11 weeks
Good luck

i would definately switch doctors I know it's not advised to switch in the middle of your pregnancy but you are not that far along. Some people don't even see the doctor till well after they are into their 4th or 5th month. I would definately search for a new Dr. The most important thing is the health of you & your baby. So do what you feel safe with.

I've had cups waiting in the restroom when I went to leave a sample. We had our names on the cups though. Write you name on the cup next time, to be sure there is no mix up. If you feel your doctor is not giving you good care then switch.

About the urine no I wouldn't. There should have been a marker to write your name on it, the other sample was the patients responsibility to put their name on. Most OBs early in pregnancy ignore complaints of pain too but over that yes I would have. Am thinking of doing th same thing over very similar reasons.

I would switch doctors. The unlabled urine cup thing is unprofessional, and leaving it on the sink seems a little strange (not to mention a little gross).

If you are the least bit unhappy or uncomfortable with any doctor you should leave them and find a new one that you feel better about. If you aren't happy get a new doctor.

Definitely switch doctors. Have you considered a midwife? They have far fewer patients which means more time for you. Most midwifes have hospital privileges or use birth centers. I used a midwife for my last 2 pregnancies and totally loved her. My last child was born at home. In my second pregnancy I switched to my midwife at 33 weeks! Best decision ever.

Find another doctor. Right now you want to be comfortable with you choice of care.
