"Not having this equipment in place all over the state is a huge handicap," Sebelius said.

(It's only a handicap if you want it to be.)

The governor said Kansas lacked about half the large equipment it could use for recovery efforts and debris removal, including dump trucks and front loaders. More than 20 percent of its Humvees and 15 of 19 helicopters were sent to Iraq, the governor said.

(Try using the other half of the equipment. Surely that should be enough for a small town.)

Ten died in Greensburg, a town of 1,600 people. An 11th died in nearby Pratt County and a 12th in a separate tornado in Ottawa County.

(If half the gaurd equipment isn't enough to take care of a town this size then Kansas has a problem remaining even with all equipment returned. Do the math.)

(I just wish we could focus on the actual problem of the disaster and leave the politics out of it. It seems to me that Kansas govenor is withholding available resources.)

She can't govern a state, so she needs to blame it on someone else. If she was a strong leader, she would be showing the poor people what they could accomplish with what they have instead of beating those poor people down more.

sad but true, and whats even scarier....most states don't have the necessary equipment. In most cases the equipment is either loaned by private companies or temporarily taken over by the state, yes in time Of emergency its legal. Whats even worse is most health care facilities dont have enough supplies on had for a disaster that produces mass casualties. In both cases the expect the Federal Government to step in and save them.

Um, brainiac, who uses Humvees and helicopters to remove debris? Have you ever been to, or perhaps driven by a construction site? How many Humvees and helicopters did you see there removing debris? You using bulldozers, frontloaders and dumptrucks, the majority of which Kansas had sent off to Iraq. Only a kook would focus on the HUMVEES that are available. Give us a break.

Perhaps she is merely very incompetant, rather than politically scheming. Based on politician's responses to... well, anything - I'd say it was far more likely she is incredibly stupid than incredibly conniving.

Let me guess it isn't racist because it happened to whites. They will try and pin this on Bush again.
