What did Sadaam know that we didn't and haven't been able to realize. That Iran was the real "Axis of Evil" is my guess.

In lawless areas (and to say Iraq isn't lawless is to be unutterably foolish) people with different religions are very rarely tolerated. If two sects of Islam hate each other enough for there to be constant violence between them then they are not going to exert even the smallest tolerance for Jews or Christians. The same thing was true in Northern Ireland - Muslims were often driven out.

I don't think anyone but radicals are trying to make this into a broader war against Islam - and even they might not be doing so. I've not heard anyone say a single thing against the most populous Muslim nation on Earth - Indonesia - for instance.

It won't be between Islam and Christianity, but it may come to an all out brawl between the West and all of Islam with the only solution being the slaughter of millions of muslims. The only way to get religious fanatics to stop is too just kill every last one of them, and unfortunately that would involve the killing of many civilians as well as terrorists. But it may boil down to an us or them scenario, and in that case I do not think that we will allow it to be us.
