80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Nothing can be defined accurately, including life. An apple might be defined as being a fruit, red, and round, but its meaning can not be precisely defined.
A better question might be "what are the applications of life?"
Its applications could be found everywhere we look, from food, shelter, cloths, sex, sports, to music, painting, scientific discoveries,... The ones we use and cherish the most, define the meaning of life for us.

Suicidal people are least likely to have found meaning in their lives. Higher levels of social and national cohesion reduce suicide rates. Suicide levels are highest among the retired, unemployed, impoverished, divorced, the childless, urbanites, empty nesters, and other people who live alone. Suicide rates also rise during times of economic uncertainty (although poverty is not a direct cause, it can contribute to the risk of suicide). Epidemiological studies generally show a relationship between suicide or suicidal behaviors and socio-economic disadvantage, including limited educational achievement, homelessness, unemployment, economic dependence and contact with the police or justice system.[11] War is always associated with a steep fall in suicides; for example, during World War I and World War II the rate fell markedly, even in neutral countries.

People who live into their 90s are more likely to have found meaning in their lives.

WARNING: THE ALIENS MIGHT VISIT YOU TO ERASE YOUR MEMORY IF YOU READ THIS.
Well, you don't think the whole universe works the way Earth does, do you?
No! One species, one planet!
Most of the races of Earth are descended from alien races.
There is a planet of deer, a planet of Asians, and so on!
The Joozians put them all together on Earth in order to create drama from racial tension from their unnatural cohabitation of the planet and the whole universe tunes in to watch the fun!
Asians, bears, ducks, Jews, deer, and Hispanics, all trying to live side by side on one planet! It's great!
The purpose of our lives as humans is to entertain the life forms on other planets through the reality television show that they know as EARTH.
After 100 episodes, the only reason that the show was not cancelled, the planet of earth not demolished, the sun not turned off, and we are still alive is because Cartman blackmailed the Joozians who produce the show with some dirty pictures that Kenny took of them while they were high on glach.
Now, look behind you.

South Park, 100th episode, Season 7 - Episode 4 - Cancelled

"To be who you are and become what you are capable of becoming is the only end of life." This requires remembering who you were before others began to label you and the defensive ego developed - with all its conflicted beliefs about self and the world. The ego may help us survive, but it has to be given up in order to live. You are here to experience "eternal aliveness" in the now - the only aspect of time that is eternally with us.

There is no meaning to life.
Go through your day knowing that each decision you make can change your future. Enjoy life as well as you can, because this may be the only time you will ever experience it.
Get busy living or get busy dieing.
Live well......and shine

For me it means, finding what Gods will is for me, and doing my best carry to that out. It is not easy, and I don't always like it, but I tend to be more satisfied when I follow direction!!!
