a friend of mine (Chinese) told me that there was a Chinese restaurant (in the US somewhere, but I cannot recall where).
the family name of the owners was Wang (English translation: King)...I do not remember what the word/name Fu means, but they decided to use the name Fu Wang, but also decided to translate the name to English, but only partially, so ended up with the name Fu King Restaurant.
They ended up going out of business because of a lack of business, in part because of the name. Even if the food had been absolutely excellent, I imagine they would have had a rough time.

Wimpy's. That's the name of a restaurant that was in Cairo, Egypt around 10 years ago. But they're not there any more, so I guess someone dropped a clue to them.

Hi,

In Ronda, Spain, there is a restaurant and hotel called Hotel Colon, which sounds pretty awful.

Actually it is a rather good restaurant and hotel and is named after Christopher Columbus (In Spanish, Cristobal Colon) the name , to the Spanish, of course, is entirely plausible, though it looks a pretty name to us.

Maybe one to add to your list?

Cheers,

BobSpain
