A couple years back i was having some problems and i was caught shoplifting. They arrest me but they gave me a date for a court appearence. I went to court and they tld me to get a lawyer. Well due to my circumstances ( i was homeless and then spent time in a mental heath facility) I never showed up.
Now i have 2 warrants out for larceny from a merchendiser. Now that i have my life in order i want to get it taken care of. I am better have my own place and have held down a job for over a year. I am just scared about what will happen. I have a newborn at home.
What is the best way to get this taken care of? And what will most likley happen?

You will get arrested. The merchant can drop the charges if they wish. I would go to the store and offer to settle the matter financially and make more amends like volunteering to work or something to settle the whole case. If you convince them you are now worth something and would be eternally grateful they might take you up on it.

The best way to solve your problem is, of course, to get an attorney. However, in your situation, getting an attorney on retainer at $200 to $300 an hour would not be the way to go.

The ideal solution is to enroll in a legal services membership plan. You'll then have instant access to a licensed attorney in your state. You'll receive an 800 number and will be entitled to unlimited, FREE phone consultation. If you need to talk face-to-face, you'll also be able to schedule FREE office visits. If you go to court, you'll have 60 hours of courtroom time, as a part of your membership.

The cost of all of this is a $10 membership fee and $16 a month during the term of your membership. There are no
additional charges.

Do you have any reason not to go ahead and get your life in order?

Get a criminal lawyer. Turn yourself in on the warrants, preferably at the court that issued them, early in the morning, if you hope to get out before the end of the day. If you had a probation officer appointed, talk to him/her beforehand, if you can't get a lawyer. Have somebody ready with money for bail, in case.

If you can prove what you said in your question, and you have no other record, you should be OK.

Depends on your state. Under some circumstances you can call the court to put yourself on the calendar to have your hearing, they'll recall the warrants at that point.

Contact a lawyer for some free advice. Most will give it.
