So many good answers and only 5.
When I am 7 can I get more? Annie
is, well, just not cerebral enough. She
doesn't think enough about death.
And she thinks smoking grass will make
her sound more like Billie Holliday.

"I love being reduced to a cultural
stereotype"
....
. Amazing, isn't it, how such a non-
masculine guy gets so many women?

Annie is smarter than Alvy for sure. Don't forget, in the end, she was not with him. And he was a mess of different anxioeties and neurosisis. Annie was well read, intelligent, outgoing, fun, silly, sweet, talented, inovative, creative, stylish beyond words, and beautiful. Alvy was none of those things. I am a major annie fan. She was great.

Oh I like this question!

I'd say Alvy is smarter than Annie. But whose more well rounded and more talented? I'd say Annie.

smarter? Alvy

well rounded? Annie

i guess it comes down to what you prefer.

Annie is one of those creatures that is constantly changing--it's as if her whole sense of self depended on new experiences to complete her--and that will never happen.

Alvy was basically a finished portrait--masterpiece actually. he had a sense of self that most can only dream of. neuroses and all, Alvy's acceptance of who/what he was makes him smart, one of the smartest characters i've seen on screen.

(and this is the part where Marshall McLuhan shows up and tells me i have it all wrong...sigh)
