"All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration...
We are all of one consciousness and the universe itself is subjective... there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves..."

I like what he said, it has beauty, and gentle intent.

It's upsetting that others openly balk at another's truth, even to go so far as to harshly criticize. Even the friendly answers seemed to contain some sarcasm or superiority tones.

Anything is possible until proven otherwise... and even then it might exist elsewhere... : )

"All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration..."

Okay, but not quite accurate, in my understanding of quantum physics. Matter and energy are two forms of the same thing, but 'vibration' doesn't fit in there.

"We are all of one consciousness and the universe itself is subjective."

No. We all have shared things in common, but we are not of 'one consciousness'. We each experience the world with our own bodies. We make choices, and receive the consequences of those choices.

"there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves."

No. Sad. Human beings have the potential for improvement, for goodness, to find and fulfill a purpose, even if that is merely to scrape by in poverty to give birth to the next generation. When our lives are real, and we control them toward a destiny, we find meaning and success. If not, we become prisoners of an impersonal universe, floating mindlessly through our lives.

The quote is a nice thought if you sleep a lot.

It is logically a fallacy to argue that there is "one"
"true" go. The proposition presupposes an assumption,
which has and is not substantiated by evidence.
"Faith", as we know it is also untenable. Since it
too is based on several confabulated fallacies. The
same is accurate with respect to agnosticism and
atheism. It's not the case to say, that we do not
know one way or another, but it is also not the case
that we do not know that we do not know. The
ambiguity leaves us in a state of evidence, or the
absence thereof, because we cannot explain the
implacability of the universe, which leads us to
Existentialism Kierkegaard, Freddy Nietzsche(AKA,
hermit, whore monger and syphilitic near-do well),
Sartre, Camus and other agnostics, who wanted to
rationalize their hatred for the Stoics in way form or
fashion they could. Thus, they ruminated around and
hatched one of the most dangerous philosophies on
earth: the idea that man is essentially nothing pitted
against the implacability of the universe. If this is
so, then it also nothing to kill somebody, which as we
all know is nonsense. Rather than admit, that their
philosophy breaks down, they would rather proselytize
verisimilitude's of its vagary upon the world as being
the end all and be all of belief systems. The
evidence of the reality check on it is quite another matter. Religion: if it's organized, then pick your poison.

"We are all of one consciousness and the universe itself is subjective"

Not true... if it were true, how could we so unaware of that consciousness to do some of the horrors we have done to one another. I wish it were true.

And the universe is not subjective... it is.. if we ceased to exist, 'it' would still 'be'. Nothing subjective about that; how we perceive the universe, that's another story.

Nice thoughts, I think I understand what he's getting at, but flowery verse just don't make it so.

Peace

The thing is not to make your metaphysics more precise but to make your heart more loving, your actions kinder. If believing this statement helps, fine. Heavenbound believes the Bible. But Buddha would say such things have nothing to do with the religious life, get back to your meditation.

In the end, only kindness matters.

Mr. Hicks sounds like a dreamer. While there's certainly nothing wrong with having your head in the clouds, one should always remember to keep your feet on solid ground.

This is the kind of statement that is meant to seem impressive and profound, but is really just a bunch of muddled and superficial thinking about both physics and metaphysics. It is a modern example of what the ancients called "sophistry."

I think it sounds as though Bill Hicks has genuinely given the topic some thought and decided highly enough of his imaginings to think it true at the time...........

I would make it expand until it is pixel-ated and then make it whiz off in infinite pieces in all directions not unlike the universe itself......ohhh pretty........

Absolutely FALSE!!!!!!!!

We are LIVING, human beings created by God! We are birthed, live and then die!

This Bill Hicks guy is either on a bad Acid trip or he is still dreaming and hasn't woken up as of yet!

Genesis 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Psalm 104: 29Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
